Story about this alleged compulsive alcoholic and gambler has been on the newspapers. The name is Terrance Watanabe, 52 years old and residing in the United States. It is believed that he lost $127 million to Vegas casinos like Caesars Palace and Rio casinos. It was a losing streak that lasted for a year and the longest reported streak in history of casinos and gambling.
Watanabe now claims that the casinos are accountable for his losses and wants these casinos to actually pay him back. His losses almost cleaned up his family’s fortune. They’ve been running an import business.
The casinos also admitted that Watanabe’s losses amounted to about 5.6% of the revenue Las Vegas casinos were able to collect for 2007, year when Watanabe had staggering losses.
Now after two years, Watanabe is claiming that the casinos are really to blame for his losses. He said that they planned to keep him gambling two years ago by giving him alcohol and pain medication. Just last month, he filed a civil suit against Harrahs.
But then, Watanabe was also charged with four felony counts because of intentionally defrauding and stealing from Harrahs after he lost a credit granted by the casino to him. Supposedly, $14.7 million must have already been paid to the casino however there was refusal on his part. Now, his refusal could indeed make him stay in jail for 28 years.
Watanabe was one of the top customers of Harrahs for long years. But by the records, in 2005, he started to become a hardcore drinker as well as gambler. Steve Wynn met him in 2007 and then after suspicions on whether he has become addicted to alcohol and gambling started to be just around the corner.
Eventually, Wynn decided to ban Watanabe from entering Vegas casinos because of being “a compulsive alcoholic and gambler”. Way back then, Watanabe even have gambled up to $5 million just in one day.
