The scars left by Hurricane Katrina are still visible in some parts of this little-big city on the gorgeous coast of Mississippi.  At MGM Mirage’s Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, the blemishes are all but forgotten as preparations are made for the upcoming Gulf Coast Poker Championship.

For a $5,000.00 buy-in heavy hitters can bet in the main event on September 12, but for the rest of us who may not have the same spirit, there are over a dozen other tournaments with buy-ins starting at $300 to include daily No-limit Hold ‘Em tournaments and nightly games as well.

Female card sharks will undoubtedly be swarming the ever-popular Ladies International Poker Series No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournament which takes place on Sunday September 6th for a $300 buy-in and a $40 registration fee.

Other highlighted events include a Seven Card Stud/Stud 8 mixed event, Megasatellite, Last Chance Megasatellite Turbo, No-Limit Hold ‘Em Turbo, Limit Omaha High-Low, Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys, and even an instructional workshop, “Big Slick Boot Camp,” presented by Vanessa Rousso, poker champion, who will share advice, game theory and poker strategy tips.

Registration for the Gulf Coast Poker Championship begins at 6 p.m. on September 3 and is then open from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.  The main event on the 12th requires a $5,000.00 buy-in with a $150.00 entry fee.  In addition to the prize money, the main event winner will also receive a $10,000.00 seat at the World Poker Tour Southern Poker Championship Main Event in January of 2010, also hosted right there at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.
