People are excited right now in Michigan because a new casino is about to open and that means new jobs for people. The ground was broken on the new building earlier today, and people are very excited and pumped up about this new casino.

The new casino is called Gun Lake Casino, and they just started demolishing the old building on Monday and are working very fast to get the new facility  ready for operation. This alone brought in a lot of construction jobs for people, which they needed, since the holidays are coming up.

The tribe of Pottawatomi Indians helped break the ground. A lot of people might have thought that ground breaking isn’t such a big thing but to these people it is, because of what it represents. They have waited for this for a very long time and have carefully planned out this casino. $157 million will be going into this casino. They started working on this casino in the year 1999.

Another reason why so many people are excited is because of the variety of games that they will have at this casino. Some of the games include 36 table games, 1,200 slot machines, a bar, plus an entertainment center. They will have something there for everyone.  They claim that is just the beginning and that there is more to come.

With this new casino opening up, they will be employing 2,500 people with jobs. They will need help, and they are sure that a lot of people will be applying because a lot of people are without jobs right now. They feel that this will also help out the economy, and it should, because they will need to hire so many people. There is a woman that is excited about it. Barbara Faust has been out of work since the year 2005 and has not been able to find a job. She said that it has been really tough on her and her husband. They’ve been trying everything that they can think of to find work. With this new casino opening up, she feels as though she has a chance now and that things will hopefully get better for them. Even if she is not hired, she will be happy for the people that do get hired because she knows of lots of people without a job.

This new casino will do the casino industry a world of good, and Michigan will really benefit from it because people are already planning on taking trips to visit the casino when it is opened, and that, of course, means more money for those places that might not have had it without the casino being there.
