Times are rough for everyone; even casinos are being affected by the current economy.  Gamblers are holding tight to their money just like the everyday Joe, mostly because of the current recession.  Adding to this plight -  vacationers are just not traveling like they have in years past and this includes traveling to casinos.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board publicized revenues for the month of May and they showed a marked decline.  It seems gaming revenues took a tumble to 8.34 % during May.  Apparently, casino stocks were down about 80% all last year.

Nevada isn’t the only state having problems with gaming revenues.  Kansas City, Missouri is reporting that their four riverboat casinos had a significant 2.5% decrease and they aren’t the only ones having this issue in the state.  Other Missouri casinos are in the same boat.
Atlantic City is reporting in with a 13.6% decrease in June and bad news seems to be going all around the United States.   Some states are even considering shutting down casinos during this recession.  So, what are casino’s doing to raise their revenues and stay in business?  They are becoming more creative and are offering their guests more than they have in the past.  That is good for you!

Las Vegas has tried a few events to boost revenue.  A high end boxing match and an Ultimate Fighting Championship played out at the MGM Grand during May while concerts were arranged to improve the number of visitors coming into the city.  PokerStars.net, web poker site, hosted a party at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  Sports superstars, entertainment personalities, and renowned poker players gathered and were entertained by hip-hop star, Nelly.  This brought in a big crowd that added to the revenue of the casinos.  It is possible that revenues would be even lower for the city if they wouldn’t have provided these events.

In Detroit, Michigan Greektown Casino Hotel upped their revenue by a whopping 7.2% in May.  They attribute this to their marketing plan and the fact that they give their guests great value for their money.  Food and beverages are glorious and they are providing promotions galore.  By the look of their revenue increase it seems to be working well for them.

Some casinos are offering rooms as low as $49.00 per night and all-you-can-eat meals for $2.00 to $4.00.  There are others giving tickets to shows for low price or even free and some are offering free travel to their site.  With all the money you will save on amenities you should be able to play a little more blackjack or spin the roulette wheel a few more times.

If you are in the position of being able to travel now, you may be able to catch a deal for casino vacations.  Casinos are out to get your business and while they may not be able to do much for you at the tables, they will give you good accommodations, meals, and entertainment at a real bargain.  If you are a seasoned gambler there is no better time to take advantage of these savings.
