Shocking but true, even famous individuals can be involved with gambling types of situations. Other instances happen because of the neglect to pay their obligations because they were very busy and thus, do not have more time to settle accounts or on the other hand, they do not have enough money to pay the debt for now due to financial shortage and that is exactly what had happened to the NBA star. The district attorney’s office has filed a criminal complaint against former NBA star, Mr. Antonio Walker, for alleging time to pay his obligations to them, which was a gambling debt.
According to the authorities, Walker was charged because of issuing ten $100,000 checks without having enough funds in his account to cover the amount of these checks, in other words, he had insufficient funds to write these checks. The checks that were being issued were to pay his debts to the three famous casinos in Las Vegas. These casinos and the number of checks out of the ten that they received are as follows: Caesars Palace, which received 6 hot checks, Planet Hollywood, which received two hot checks, and Red Rock Casino, which received two insufficient checks as well; all with insufficient funds that were unable to cover the debts that were owed due to the money just simply not being there.
Bernie Zadrowski, Chief Deputy District Attorney who is the individual in charge, runs the bad checks department. He was asking from the justice department an issuance of warrant of arrest for the alleged NBA star that was not unable to settle his financial obligations to the casinos where he spent a large amount of time to play games, enjoy himself, and just have fun and let loose. Zadrowski says that Walker was able to pay back the $1,000,000 in markers but the remaining amount, which is almost the same as the amount of markers, has not yet been settled properly. Now, because of the complaint filed against him, Antonio Walker owes money from the District Attorney amounting into $82, 550 in fees for taking on the criminal prosecution that the casinos are requiring.
On the other hand, Mr. Walker’s attorney, Mr. Jonathan Powell, declines to make any comment regarding the issue. It seems that the famous NBA star was always involving himself in unwanted situations that would not cause a good aura about himself as an individual person or as himself as an NBA star and his career.
The case is still active and until Mr. Walker is able to properly settle all his obligations to the firm where his debts are being held, the District Attorney and other authority will take further actions towards this matter. On the part of the three casinos, they will also take further actions to have the exact payment that they are owed from Mr. Walker in their hands as soon as possible.
A business will always be a business and when you owe something, you are obligated to pay it back. Ultimately, when you sell, you gain and that is why in regards to the three casinos, they have the right to demand payment from Alvin Walker so that the amount can be used as a tool to generate larger income in their business in the future.
