Officials of Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods were glad to report to the Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue that for the month of July the slot revenue reached $64.1 million. They were happy to reveal increase of 1.3 percent in slot win and increase of 5.3 percent in total slot handle as compared to July of last year. It was said that the owner of the casino, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, handed the State of Connecticut a $17.2 million payment for July 2010.
However, Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises President William Sherlock confirmed that though it was pleasing to have such July’s increase, they can’t completely be glad because of the economic conditions.
Sherlock said: “While we’re pleased with July’s results, it appears that current economic conditions will continue to pose challenges to our business over the coming months. We’ll continue to introduce new experiences, amenities and customer benefits that are sure to resonate with consumers.”
The gambling firm will introduce two major entertainment establishments at Foxwoods this fall. It will have Comix, the first outpost of the famous Manhattan comedy club and then High Rollers Lanes and Lounge, a bowling complex by the Big Night Entertainment, the firm that brought SHRINE and The Scorpion Bar Tequila Cantina to life. These two entertainment establishments hopefully will be good additions to customers’ more unique entertainment choices.
We hope nothing else but the best for the casino. May it continue to have increases in earnings also for State of Connecticut to have bigger revenue collection. And it will only be possible if the casino will get to overcome the challenges brought by the tough economic conditions. May the introduction of the two major entertainment establishments at Foxwoods this fall be actually helpful to the casino in overcoming the said challenges.
