Online GamblingThere is actually a pending case between iMEGA and the Department of Justice on the issue of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act or the UIGEA. And in connection to this, a court order was released just recently and it stated that UIGEA itself cannot be considered as a federal law against online gambling. And that the law, will only be applicable in states where online gambling is considered as something illegal.

Now, because of what the court order stated, states like Maine and Florida might soon be open to online gambling. They are two of the many states that are currently into the issue of being open to gambling over the internet.

Maine, just like many other states in the United States, has also cut its budget due to the economic crisis. And at this point, the state is actually considering the possible revenue from gambling options like online keno to help in avoidance of further budget cuts.

According to the director of the Maine lottery, Dan Gwadosky, legalizing online keno will actually bring forth additional $2.4 million revenue and this is already for one entire year. However, the Maine lottery director also said that online keno seems like a Powerball however with more constant drawings.

Meanwhile, Florida is still on the process of reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of regulating the online gambling. The Office of Program Policy & Government Analysis or OPPAGA is the office in-charge of the review and is believed to submit its final conclusions to the state Senate Regulated Industries Committee today, January 19.

The people running the state might have also realized the additional revenue that they might get from online gambling, particularly from gambling options like online keno. But then, they might have been considering as well the possible things that will happen once they become open to gambling over the internet.
