We can consider the Second Annual World Series of Slots ® tournament of the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino a success. It was actually able to bring together 400 competitors for head-to-head battle through eight rounds truly exciting. And of course, it has given away almost $300,000, in prize money, to these amazing competitors.

Well, all competitors were given at least $200, regardless if they were able to advance to round two or not. And then lucky ones to advance received additional cash prizes. After, again received additional cash prizes for making it to the next round and so on and so forth.

And of course, the world champion, Granison Boone, Jr., was given $100,000 and championship bracelet for slot victory. Then second placer, Jerry Hooper, was given $15,000. Third placer, Gayle Williams, was given $10,000. And fourth placer, Nicholas Keyock, was given $8,000 in prize money.

Also, aside from the huge top money prizes, six free slot play drawings of as much as $10,000 were drawn, five for $1,000 and one for $5,000.

“We’re extremely pleased with the success of our Second Annual World Series of Slots,” senior vice president of Golden Nugget casino marketing and operations Mike Leonard said.

Yes, it could be considered a success. And Leonard actually expressed his thrill about it becoming even larger in the years to come.

“Our players simply can’t get enough of this one-of-a-kind, head-to-head tournament,” said Leonard. “With 2010 bringing more participants and awarding more prize money than last year’s event, we’re sure to see this tournament grow even larger in the coming years.”

The Second Annual World Series of Slots ® tournament of the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino was also attended by celebrities such as Rupert Boneham of Survivor Pearl Island fame and professional poker players Phil Hellmuth, Karina & Chip Jett, Suzie Lederer, and Kristy Gazes.
