The Seminole Casino settled in Coconut Creek was considered very helpful to the city when the casino started providing around 800 new jobs for the residents of the city and even the others also in Florida. There were jobs such as waitresses, dealers, cashiers, hosts, bartenders, and cooks for them to apply for. They were also jobs to secure for around 4,000 of them who came in the event.
Cheryl Broger, who checked out the new jobs being offered, said: “I am a real estate agent, and since the market has dried up, I have been unable to make ends meet. The gaming industry seems to be the future of South Florida, so if I can get in now, I could make a career out of it. I am excited and nervous at the same time.”
The Seminole Casino also saw many of the residents worth accepting for the new jobs. However, they still needed more and wished to have additional residents most especially before the completion of the expansion project. The said project will allow the casino to also have blackjack and baccarat, as revealed by the reports. Still, there will be many other residents who will come for the jobs because of the problems brought by the recession. There will be these ones who will be interested also because of not having a job or trying to have another that will be different and free from pressure related to the recession. The casino will have more before the said completion.
Betsy Balik said: “I have been a waitress for ten years, but the last two jobs I had I lost because the restaurants closed during the recession. I almost gave up and changed careers, but with this job fair I saw it as one last opportunity to stay in the hospitality industry. We’ll see what happens.”
