It was confirmed recently by reports that Ashley Mitchell who hacked Zynga’s servers and stolen billions of virtual poker chips finally got sentence from the Exeter Crown Court. He had four charges of converting criminal property and consequences for violating the Computer Misuse Act and eventually was obliged to be in prison for two years.

Reports have confirmed that Mitchell has hacked the servers of Zynga and then took 400 billion virtual poker chips worth $12 million. It was said that most likely the 29-year-old Briton has sold the chips to other Zynga players coming from the black market. He must have given away the chips at a lower price. He was not able to get rid of everything he has stolen for he got caught. He was only able to sell $86,000 worth of the chips. If able to get rid of everything, he could have earned $300,000.

Judge Philip Wassal said to Mitchell: “You used a considerable amount of expertise, through software you bought, to hack into their computer system. The means by which you gained access through their security showed elaborate research and a lot of persistence. The time you must have spent doing this must have been considerable. People rely on computer systems. Anyone who has managed to get into these systems for their own ends should expect a stiff sentence.”

Of course for people behind servers of Zynga it was really a good thing that Mitchell was caught and then was sentenced by Exeter Crown Court. He got caught and for hacking the servers and stealing billions of virtual poker chips, he will be in prison for two years. He will be in prison for not too long but at least he will still suffer because of his wrongdoings. Other hackers might already be afraid to push through with their evil scheme.
