The online gambling bill known as AB258 has been signed by the Governor of Nevada and will allow until the month of January 2012 for the Nevada Gaming Commission to outline the regulations and what not for the implementation of online gambling within Nevada. Therefore, the Nevada Gaming Commission has approximately six to seven months to come up with an innovative, effective system that will properly and fully control the state’s online gambling.

This online gambling bill is something that many have been looking forward to actually seeing be pushed through. With Nevada pushing this bill through so far, other states are likely to follow suit and won’t be far behind.

Nevada is home to some of the best land-based casinos in the States – and the world in some cases – so it comes as no surprise that they are the first to get a bill pushed through for the state’s Gaming Commission to regulate.

With the online gambling industry being a very lucrative market for almost anyone and everyone, many of the gambling companies within America have turned their interest to these types of opportunities. IGT, International Game Technology is just one of such American gambling companies. IGT is a huge gambling company in America and is hoping for the expansion into the online market in addition to WMS among other gambling companies that are also looking to give themselves a name and presence online.

While Nevada may very well be at the forefront of achieving online opportunities and online gambling legalization, other brands are prepping to get into the United States online gambling market over the next several months.

The license would of course give the new Aria Hotel and Casino the ability to operate. But it is also worth mentioning that it was only made possible by the unanimous approval of the members of the commission in Las Vegas during a special meeting.

The Associated Press has reported that the MGM Mirage and Dubai World, the project partner, meet all the requirements to manage CityCenter. Both indeed have the capacity to handle the said complex. The two-hour hearing that happened before the approval of the license had the supporting proof to this.

And just in addition to the license granted by Nevada Gaming Commission to the new Aria Hotel and Casino, CityCenter also has its fifth and sixth LEED Gold ratings just the previous week with the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas and Veer Towers certification. The achievement of CityCenter indeed marks the highest LEED attainment by any hotel, retail district or residential development in Las Vegas. The previous LEED Gold awards of CityCenter include ARIA Resort’s hotel tower, Vdara Hotel & Spa and Crystals, and ARIA’s convention center and theater.

More achievements to come for CityCenter, but meanwhile, as we wait for these, let us all keep keen on eye on the steps to make by the new Aria Hotel and Casino as it moves forward and be closer to its debut at the $8.5 billion CityCenter complex on the Las Vegas Strip. Like any others, it needs our attention.

In 2007, Micheal Eakman & Associates organized tournaments at the Palms Resort and Casino for the benefit of the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada. It actually took four months before the company was able to pay its 25% charity share and eventually failed to give the winners their complete prizes.

George Maloof, the owner of Palms Resort and Casino, claimed that the hotel-casino contacted the State regulators immediately after the problems were discovered and paid the prize money awarded in one of tournaments by United States Poker League still in 2007. It paid $450,416 in unpaid prize money.

However, the Control Board still accepted a complaint by the state attorney general’s office though Palms Resort and Casino paid the tournament winnings in full. In the complaint, it was explained that “the Palms Resort hosted the tournaments without adequate planning and follow-up and failed to prevent a situation that might reflect negatively on the state and Las Vegas casino industry”.

But then, Palms Resort and Casino realized in a way, that some obligations are for the hotel-casino to fulfill. Thus now, it agrees to be more involved in the future tournaments for which it is a part and set up new and more effective security procedures and policies so to be competent enough in hosting events.
